Tour # ONT-6 - OTTAWA
In 1857 Queen Victoria designated Ottawa as Capital of Canada to settle a dispute between Quebec City, Montreal, Toronto, Kingston, and Ottawa as to which one should be named “The Capital”. Ottawa was officially designated as
it was away from the St. Lawrence River, had its own river - The Ottawa, away from the peering eyes of the Colonial
soldiers across the river (!), and was on top of the Ontario/Quebec border to satisfy all politicians. Ottawa is
Canada's fourth largest metropolis. Architecture is utterly breathtaking, and the many museums take us deep into
the culture of this beautiful clean city. A must see.
